Latest News on Road Spillage

Update: In relation to the incident earlier this afternoon where a lorry shed part of its load on the Newry Road. The area has now been cleared and cleaned. The road has been reopened. Thanks to all those involved. The haulier has been contacted to ensure that such an incident doesn’t happen again.

Warrenpoint Port is urging caution on the inbound approach to Warrenpoint on the Newry Road from the Narrow Water roundabout. A lorry transporting non hazardous ‘sludge cake’ bound for export via the Port has shed part of its load. It is non hazardous but it doesn’t smell very pleasant. The area has been cordoned off while the clean-up operation is underway. Currently Warrenpoint bound traffic is being diverted via Mound Road. Local access for HGVs to Newry Road will be permitted.

Thank you to the PSNI who quickly responded, to our own team who are onsite to assist and local contractors who are also assisting. It is expected that there will be disruption for the next couple of hours.
