Warrenpoint Port hosted its 2020 AGM on Tuesday 22nd June 2021. The meeting took place virtually due to ongoing Covid restrictions. It was attended by more than 30 people including members of the public, customers and port users, Warrenpoint Port employees, and Board members.
During the AGM Chairman Dr Gerard O Hare CBE DL took the attendees through the Chairman’s Report citing what was an extremely challenging year for all Ports right across the globe.
The Chairman said, “By mid-2020 it was looking like the Port would incur another negative year but despite being effectively locked down for a substantial part of the year, overall tonnage fell by less than 5% on 2019’s figures.
“A tremendous response by the team to drive recovery in the second half of the year, led to a swing of almost plus £650,000 on 2019’s figures and resulted in the Port recording a profit of just over £70,000. EBITDA was also up 28.6% to over £1.7m.
“These figures are testament to the efforts of our Executive Directors and the Team here at the Port; but also our customer base, several of whom and their agents have joined us for this AGM.”
CEO David Holmes then took the attendees through the Strategic Report and CEO Report. He highlighted successes including the improved communication channels and the Covid Community Christmas Fund which supported 23 different local organisations.
David Gray, Chair of the Audit Committee and Finance Director Kieran Grant went through the financial results in detail before appointing an independent auditor for 2021- PKFFPM.
Finally, the AGM addressed questions and comments submitted to the Port in advance, before the meeting concluded.
