Rubbish including fast food waste, plastic and glass bottles, a discarded oil can and even a baby walker, were among the items collected by volunteers from Warrenpoint Port during a clean up around the town’s beaches and coastline.
Port staff were joined by customers and their family and friends for the coastal clean up which saw teams tidy up stretches between Narrow Water and Cole’s Corner.
Clare Guinness, CEO, Warrenpoint Port said:
“We are privileged to live and work in an area of outstanding natural beauty and one which we must all strive to conserve for future generations.
“The port’s role as a conservator of the lough and marine environment is one that we take very seriously.
“It was a pleasure therefore to join with many of our customers and their families for this community effort as we came together to make a really positive impact on the coastline around Carlingford Lough.”
Representatives from Warrenpoint Port’s wide customer base, including Seatruck Ferries, Forestwood Agencies, and Point Shipping, were among those to take part in the initiative, which came ahead of World Oceans Day on 8th June.
