As per the June 2020 AGM process, the Port is convening a Consultative Committee to consider alternative affordable, practicable and proportionate screening for the C02 tanks.
The terms of reference will include that if no satisfactory alternatives are identified then the status quo will prevail i.e. existing planning imposed controls.
We are inviting 4 publicly elected councillors, business neighbours and a Newry Mourne Down tourism representative. Nippon and the Port will also have Executive Director representation.
In the event that there is to be a Brexit Inspection Centre (unconfirmed to date) in order to comply with 1st Jan 2021 EU Regs becoming required, then this body may also consult on that given it may itself serve as a screen.
